Hon. Minister Fane Fotu Fituafe Leads Tonga Delegation to Women Deliver 2026 Conference.

The Honourable Minister for Internal Affairs, Fane Fotu Fituafe, is leading Tonga’s delegation of 20 participants from both Government and Civil Society Organizations to the Women Deliver 2026 Conference, taking place from 27–30 April 2026.

Hon. Minister Fituafe is attending alongside government representatives as part of Tonga’s continued commitment to advancing gender equality, strengthening social protection systems, and promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) at the global level.

On the opening day of the Conference, Minister Fituafe will participate in the High-Level Parliamentary Forum on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Driving Equality, Ensuring Justice, convened by the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) and the Australian Parliamentary Friends of Population and Development (APGPD).

During the Forum, Hon. Minister Fituafe will deliver Tonga’s national statement, highlighting the country’s efforts to strengthen multi-sector responses to gender-based violence and improve access to inclusive, community-based services. Emphasizing the importance of coordinated systems, strong legal frameworks, and partnerships that reach women, youth, and vulnerable groups across Tonga, including those in outer islands.

Hon. Minister Fituafe will also attend the Opening Ceremony plenary, “Change Calls Us Here: The Opening of the Women Deliver 2026 Conference,” which marks the official commencement of the Conference. The Opening Ceremony sets the tone for the days ahead, bringing together global leaders, advocates, and partners in a shared call to advance gender equality and justice. The conference provides a platform for governments, civil society, and development partners to strengthen collaboration and accelerate progress toward shared global goals.
